M. A. FENNELL, RODEO JUDGE AND HORSE TRAINER, DIES AT AGE 78

A memorial service for M. A. Ferrell, 78, of Callisburg, Texas, who passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 5,  was held on Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Callisburg Church of Christ.

The rodeo judge and rodeo participant who loved training horses, especially young horses, and watching them work at their full potential, was born on Oct. 5, 1939 in Clayton, N.M. to Marshall Albert Fennell and Virgie Fay (Akin) Ferrell.

M.A. joined the U.S. Army and was attached to the 82nd Airborne and 101st Airborne and was part of a Long Range Recognizance Patrol (LRRP) in Europe. After being honorably discharged, M.A. went to work in the oil field and traveled the world with his job. He was also involved in gold prospecting.

Fennell is survived by his wife Billie of Callisburg, daughter Shonee Cunningham and her husband John of LaVernia, daughter Pippa Fennell of Callisburg, grandson Sterling Cunningham, grandson Jett Cunningham, sister Melinda Wade and her husband Ken of Bowie and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
